Arsenal are reportedly set to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer. Here are three internal ways the club can replace him.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is being strongly linked with a summer exit. According to the Express, Arsenal have pulled out of talks regarding a new contract and are considering offloading their top goalscorer amid interest from Inter Milan. Should Aubameyang depart, the Gunners will have to find a way to replace the man who has scored just short of half of their Premier League goals. It will not be easy. But, despite Aubameyang’s brilliance, there are players already in the squad who are waiting to step up.

With that in mind, here are three internal replacements for Aubameyang.

3. Reiss Nelson

Mikel Arteta is a huge believer in Reiss Nelson. He has handed him several opportunities when Nelson has been available, spoke extremely highly of him in the opening weeks of his tenure, and seems to hold the opinion that Nelson can develop into a high-calibre Premier League winger.

Nelson has exclusively played on the right under Arteta, but he does have experience on the left flank and has even played in a central attacking midfield position before. He has the positional and spatial intelligence to play across the front line and could be shifted over to the left flank in Aubameyang’s stead.

Another option would be to switch Nicolas Pepe to the left. While he excels in cutting inside off the right and onto his dominant left foot, he could equally flourish from the left side, delivering crosses into the penalty area from the byline. This is not an ideal solution and it would likely require more goals from other positions, but Arteta likes Nelson a great deal, and that counts for something.
