4 former players Gunners should re-sign

Arsenal have let some talent leave the Emirates in recent years. Here are four former players they should look to re-sign this summer.

Signing former players is a risky business. Just ask Manchester United if they would like the £90 million they spent of Paul Pogba back. Nevertheless, Arsenal have allowed some key players to leave the club in recent years, players that could now return and offer great value.

So, with that in mind, here are four former players that the club might be wise to invest in their return.

4. Santi Cazorla

Santi Cazorla missed almost three years of his prime years. He suffered a nasty ankle injury in a Champions League tie versus Ludogorets. He almost lost his foot, underwent eight surgeries, and had to have a skin graft from his arm onto his ankle. which has left half a tattoo that was previously on his arm covering his ankle.

Arsenal allowed Cazorla to leave the club in 2018. Since then, he has starred for Villareal. Last year, he played more 2,500 La Liga minutes, notching four goals and ten assists. This season, he has upped his figures yet again with eight goals and six assists in only 1,831 minutes. He may be 35, but Cazorla is playing some of the best football his career. He even earned a Spain call-up.

Cazorla is available on a free transfer at the end of the season. He cannot be relied upon to play regularly, of course, and at 35 he offers little to no long-term solutions in central midfield. But with Arsenal looking to groom several young players throughout the squad, they could do a lot worse than to bring the Spaniard back on a cheap, one-year deal.
