The general consensus of Arsenal fandom of many players can sometimes be a little off. So, here are the top three most underrated players in the current squad.
As is natural in football, there is a wide range of opinions from person to person. And with Arsenal, like any other football team, the same debates are had throughout the squad. Some supporters rate particular players higher than others; other supporters criticise other players more than others. It is human nature, and an inevitable consequence of playing an inherently subjective sport.
So, which are the current players who are underrated by the general fan consensus? Here are the top three.
3. Hector Bellerin
Hector Bellerin has barely played this season, and when he has, he has not looked the most comfortable or convincing. The Spaniard is no disaster, that is for sure, but he is not as calm and progressive in possession as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, the man he replaced, and he lacked the spark and speed of previous years, qualities that his game revolved around.

When considering the circumstances, that is no surprise. Bellerin is returning from an ACL tear. He suffered a torn hamstring upon his return to the team and has been playing through a groin strain which saps that elite quickness he used to have while providing his with discomfort when kicking the ball, especially with whipped crosses or long-range passes.
But Bellerin was excellent in the first half of last season. Sometimes at wing-back, sometimes at right-back, he settled into life excellently under Unai Emery. He was sharp, offensive, threatening, rarely beaten defensively. He provided five assists in only 19 league games last season. And then he suffered injury. Those injuries have scuffed his reputation. At 25, Bellerin can still get back to his best, and if he does, he will be one of the premier right-backs in the Premier League.
