Every single reason not to sell Hector Bellerin

Arsenal is apparently entertaining offers to sell Hector Bellerin, but this is a terrible idea, and here are all the reasons why we shouldn’t do it.

Arsenal have a lot of solid, reliable pieces in this starting XI. Sure, we have a bunch of needs this coming transfer window, but those needs are incredibly specific and obvious. These days, though, there are more rumors of sales than I like to see. The biggest of which being Hector Bellerin.

Well, maybe “biggest” wasn’t the best word choice. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would be the biggest sale for this club, but that all comes down to if we can afford to give him a raise and if we can land in the Champions League. Both are big ‘ifs.’

Bellerin, however, is not far behind on the size of the transfer. It wasn’t all that long ago that he was the talk of the world. Barcelona wanted him back, he was our most valuable commodity, he was a regular superstar. More on that later.

Apparently, the Gunners are entertaining offers for a lot of first-team players, of which Hector Bellerin is one. But this is a terrible idea, and let’s talk about all the reasons why.

6. He’s one less thing to worry about

I made this same argument with signing Layvin Kurzawa if it means offloading Sead Kolasinac. We are creating a problem that we don’t need. Selling Hector Bellerin does the same thing. Arsenal don’t need to think about the rightback situation. With Hector Bellerin and Cedric Soares, they are set. And it costs very little money.

You sell Bellerin, you have to worry about finding a new starting-caliber rightback, someone like Achraf Hakimi or Jonjoe Kenny. That’s stressful, it’s a lot of work to take care of and it’s annoying. When we have a checklist so clear an obvious ahead of us, why create something else to worry about? Keep him! If for no other reason then to alleviate what is already proving to be a stressful transfer season.
