Fabrizio Romano: (On who gabriel is deciding between)

… It is hoped he will be joined at Arsenal by Gabriel with, again, the club believed to have agreed terms in principle for the 22-year-old Brazilian centre-half who is in demand across Europe with Napoli – in particular – and Everton among a number of interested clubs. To complicate matters Napoli believe they are in pole position for a deal worth around 30million euros (£27.15million).

The negotiations on both deals were led by Raul Sanllehi who, however, left his role as Arsenal’s head of football after it became clear the club was placing greater control of transfers in the hands of Arteta and technical director Edu. It is hoped Sanllehi’s departure will not affect negotiations.
