I remain somewhat confident that he stays. He’s club captain, I think he loves the club, he’s living in London, and I don’t think any other club would offer him the same financials that we would offer him given he’s 31 this month.

The only clubs I could see being potentially after him are Inter if Martinez leaves, or potentially Atletico. I can’t see him going to a rival in England, PSG just got Icardi, he won’t go to the Bundesliga, can’t see Juve wanting him, and that just leaves Barca and Real – neither of whom I can imagine would think he’s a smart signing. I say he stays.
