I don’t necessarily think that expression is without caveats. The guy is only 22, and whilst he is well travelled as a player already, he has never lived in the U.K., and obviously this is a huge point in his career – his first major move to a big club.

I think Gabriel was always open to coming, he just wanted as much information and talks as possible. I think Arteta more meant, if a player says ‘yeah, hmm, not sure to be honest, not really interested, but how much would you be willing to offer?’, we would move straight on.
