The Brazilian who quit his job, flew to London and persuaded Wenger to hire him : Gunners

This is an incredible story.

Sandro Orlandelli became Arsenal’s scout in South America after flying to London for a job that didn’t exist, meeting Arsene, who invited him to train with the squad and asked him if he knew any decent players back home.

Orlandelli thought about it, then gave him the name of a promising attacker in the Sao Paulo youth system.

Wenger had never heard of him. Not then, at any rate. The player was Kaka.

Probably worth taking out a trial with The Athletic to read this one. It’s really heart-warming. Wouldn’t be surprised if the guy who wrote it ends up shopping it to a movie studio.
