The Premier League isn’t back, but Arsenal fans can keep tabs on some potential transfer targets as the Bundesliga returns. Here are three of such.

The Bundesliga is paving the way for the return of football, as the German top-flight will commence this weekend. Surely fans around the world will be tuning in, even if they have no attachments to a particular team, so you might as well keep an eye out for some Arsenal transfer targets.

It’s been stated and overstated what the Gunners need—defenders and central midfielders. They’re going to need attackers as well, but the main focus is on rounding out this midfield and this defense in order to build a better foundation for everything else.

A lot of our reported targets are already in the Bundesliga anyway, so we should be watching them regardless. It’s just convenient that we now have the ability to watch them unabated by any other league.

Arsenal fans should watch three Bundesliga targets

And so, without further ado, here are three realistic (keyword) targets to keep an eye on as the Bundesliga commences.

We start with No. 3.

3. Denis Zakaria

So much of the success of this transfer window is riding on the Gunners’ ability to land Thomas Partey and it’s got me feeling a little uneasy. The alternatives are Carlos Soler or loaning Dani Ceballos again? That’s not the way to get ahead.

We need Thomas Partey and, if not, we need someone like Thomas Partey and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria is very much like him. He’s not as polished, but he’s also a good deal younger, allowing him to grow into the role more. It’s not as sure-fire, and it wouldn’t be that much cheaper, but the upside is we get to enjoy him for more years and see him grow into the professional that Partey now is.

Monchengladbach still has a horse in the Bundesliga race, even though they’ve fallen off top spot not all that long ago. They’ve been giving consistent game time to Zakaria and, much like Partey, any time he’s on the pitch, he’s fun to watch. So much grit and determination and balled up in one guy.

Moving on to No. 2.
