God, I’d love to keep him!
He’s been brilliant for us since the restart and I think his poor form this season has coincided with the entire team just massively underperforming and being rushed back from his injury at the beginning of the season by Emery.
I wanted us to sign him for so long and I still think he can offer something that no one else in the squad can. He’s not as prolific as Aubameyang, I’ll grant you, but he is a very good player and he can add more to this team.
If Arteta used him as a false-nine like Liverpool do with Roberto Firmino then I think we’d have a real player on our hands, but under Wenger and Emery he was deployed as the out-and-out number nine too much and I think Lacazette does far too much work off the ball to be used in that role really.
The increased competition from Eddie Nketiah really seems to have lit a fire underneath him, he seems to know how important it is that he keeps his good form up and keep Nketiah out of the side, because Nketiah is breathing down his neck.
People forget that he was voted our Player of the Season last year and with good reason too, he was outstanding and he’s been brilliant under Arteta too.
