Atletico not budging on Partey’s release clause : Gunners

I don’t get it. Even with a player swap, we are paying the release clause. There is no such thing as a swap deal. Everything is aways to separate transactions. Even Sanchez and Mkhitaryan which is as close to a straight swap as I have even seen was technically two 35 mil purchases.

This will be 50 mil release clause for Partey and ideally we get 20-25 mil back for Guendouzi, Torreira, Lacazette, or anyone else we offered. They’re getting the full release clause either way. If they really don’t want one of our players we just stall, like we clearly have been, sell the player somewhere else and come back and pay it.

But I guess that is a non-story so of course the reports don’t look at it that way.
