This was the second goal in Arsenal’s 5-0 stomping of Huddersfield a few years back. The Terriers showed some spirit—they nearly scored an equalizer prior to this move—but were in the end outclassed and outpassed, dismantled almost single-handedly by Özil.

• Mesut Özil had a hand in three goals in a single Premier League game for the first time in his career. (1G 2A)

• Özil assisted Olivier Giroud for the 14th and (presumably) final time in this match—only two players have assisted another more often for Arsenal in the Premier League (Robert Pires to Thierry Henry, 17, and Thierry Henry to Freddie Ljungberg, 15).

• After the match, Arsene Wenger said this about Özil: “Everybody knows in the stadium he’s a great football player, but at the moment as well he shows he can fight.” That’s all we want from Mesut these days, isn’t it—for him to fight.
